By Noon, February 4, Marshall University football had received 22 Letters of Intents from future members of the Thundering Herd, beginning at 7:01 a.m. this morning with linebacker Matt Pickett and lineman Alex Schooler. Football picked up two huge letters today when quarterback A.J. Graham chose MU over K-State and Illinois, while Quanthony Fletcher choose the Herd over Colorado State.   Full Story

The Herd football program had a number of recruits in this final weekend before signing day and ended with a commitment bonanza of eight players giving the nod to Marshall for this Wednesday, Feb. 4, on the first day players can sign letters of intent. Indoor football will return to Huntington for 2009, with a new team, new league, new head coach and a return to one of the true sports icons in the Tri-State. The West Virginia Wild will play in the Continental Indoor Football League, a collection of mostly Mid-West teams, two now in the Mountain State and one team in New Jersey. For the third year, Marshall University had a former player on the winning Super Bowl roster. Byron Leftwich and Doug Legursky did not get on the field, but won a ring all the same when Pittsburgh beat Arizona in a thrilling Super Bowl XVIII, 27-23. Last year it was Ahmad Bradshaw with the New York Giants and the year before Johnathan Goddard was with the Indianapolis Colts when they won the NFL.   Full Story
