Week 7 kicks off tomorrow morning and fantasy owners are already gearing up for the second half push. While quarterbacks and running backs gain most of the fantasy spot light, receivers can also play a pivotal role in triumph. This week is no exception as there are an abundance of key wideouts poised for success. Tyson Q’s FFC reveals the top-five receivers for Week 7.
Wes Welker
:
Welker will duel with
Randy Moss
for catches against an underachieving Tampa squad. The Bucs have given up the third most passing touchdowns in the NFL and won’t be improving in that area against the Patriots. Last week, in the snow, the Pats destroyed the Titans 59-0.
While the Bucs should improve on those numbers, a 35-3 drubbing is certainly not out of the question. Owners starting Welker this week should be salivating in anticipation. Expect around a 100 yards and at least one touchdown.
Reggie Wayne
:
The
St. Louis Rams
have certainly lived down to their expectations this season. Trudging out to a 0-6 record they now face the daunting task known as the
Indianapolis Colts
. Their offense has averaged a league low 9.0 points per game. On the defensive side, they have not fared much better. This bodes well for Wayne looking to continue his dominating season. The only way to hamper Wayne’s production will be an early and substantial lead for the Colts. That could force Wayne to the sidelines to rest up for the next contest against the 49ers.
Hakeem Nicks
:
Nicks broke out last week with an impressive five catch 114 yard performance. With Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie focusing on
Steve Smith
, Nicks should have open looks against the league’s second worst passing defense. The Cardinals have surrendered 265 yards per game through the air, trailing only the
Tennessee Titans
for last place. If the Cardinals revert back to before last week’s thrashing of Seattle, Manning to Nicks could be a common occurrence come Sunday.
Roddy White
:
The
Dallas Cowboys
have struggled against the pass throughout the season and facing the resurgent
Atlanta Falcons
won’t provide them with any relief. The addition of
Tony Gonzalez
has helped open up passing lanes for White and he has responded with 385 yards and 4 touchdowns in 5 games.
The Cowboys pass defense checks in at 7th worst in the NFL and White should capitalize on that statistic. Owners going with White this week should be prepared for at least 100 yards and a touchdown.
Andre Johnson
:
Johnson is probably the most underrated players in the NFL. The 49ers passing defense ranks in the middle of the pack, but Schaub’s recent success has Johnson poised for another stellar game. He has been on fire throughout the season. Johnson has raked in at least eight catches and had over 100 yards receiving in three out of the six games he has played so far.
After their embarrassing loss the Atlanta, the 49ers are looking to rebound and motivational speaker Mike Singletary will undoubtedly have them fired up. Unfortunately for them, this is an away game and Johnson is just too talented for their secondary.
