Wayne Bonner heads to Herd

Marshall University Head Football Coach Mark Snyder announced the signing of East Mississippi Community College wide receiver Wayne Bonner, on Thursday, Dec. 18. He joins a list of four junior college players who signed with the Herd on Dec. 17, the first day junior college players were allowed to sign letters of intent.

Wayne Bonner, a six-foot-four standout, joins quarterbacks Press Taylor of Butler Community College (Kan.) and Jake Laudenslayer of Mendocino College (Calif.), Laney College (Calif.) all-purpose back Troy Evans and Bakersfield Community College safety Brandon Miller who signed with the Thundering Herd on Wednesday.

Bonner was rated as the No. 64 overall junior college player in the country by Rivals.com…a high school teammate of current Marshall All-Conference USA running back Darius Marshall at Baldwin High in Georgia…has been timed with 4.5 second speed in the 40-yard dash…helped EMCC to an 8-1 overall record and a north division title…recorded 23 catches for 457 yards and seven touchdowns last season…Bonner played his freshman season at Butler C.C. with quarterback Press Taylor, who signed with Marshall on Dec. 17…Bonner was being looked at by Mississippi State, and was recruited out of high school by South Carolina, Florida, Michigan, Indiana and Western Michigan.
