Herd Insider has learned that Marshall football coaches are aggressively recruiting a top south Florida quarterback who has thrown for over 1,600 yards and 17 TDs thus far in the 2002 season. We also spoke with the head coach of his team in this exclusive Herd Insider interview.Normally available to our paid subscription members, here's a one-time free look at Herd Insider's top-notch recruiting coverage.

Herd Insider recently spoke with Dillard HS (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) Head Coach Ken Scott about highly touted quarterback Oliver Bozeman. Bozeman -who is 6'3" and 185 pounds- is leading Class 6A (the largest classification in FL)Dillard Panthers to a successful season with his arm.

Coach Scott told HI, "The biggest difference between Oliver this year and next year as a QB is his maturity. He is a super young man, and what impressives me the most is his decision-making ability." According to Coach Scott, Bozeman possesses a very strong and accurate arm, plus he has quick feet.

"If the receiver is not open he can pull it down and take it to the house," coach Scott added. Bozeman runs in the low 4.5 range in the forty yard dash, too. "Marshall is on him hard, and I am sure he will make an official visit," coach Scott summed up.

Bozeman already has official visits set up with Akron and Rutgers. He has been offered scholarships by Marshall, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Iowa, Akron and Indiana. Coach Scott said, "Oliver knows that if he wants to throw the ball, there is no place better than Marshall," acknowledging the number of QBs Marshall has/will place in the NFL.

Marshall is also interested in two of Bozeman's teammates as well. DE Stanley McClover is 6'4", 235 pounds and is rated the 7th best DE prospect in the nation. McClover has offical visits set up with Michigan State and NC State. He is considering visits to Ohio State, Tennessee, and an unoffical visit with Miami (FL), where his brother plays. Marshall is hoping he will take an official visit with his teammate, Bozeman.

Many internet sites have reported that Marshall is involved with Dillard football player/basketball player Joe McCray. Coach Scott gave HI the inside details on McCray: "Joe McCray is not playing football for us this year, he is concentrating on basketball," Scott said. McCray -at 6'4", 193 pounds- was one of the top WRs in south Florida as a junior. He is one of the top shooting guards in Florida and his stock really went up after a very successful summer AAU schedule.

"Joe McCray wants to play both football and basketball in college, and that will figure into his decsion. I know Marshall has no problem with it, and they may lead for him," coach Scott said. McCray will make an official visit to Marshall and will most likely visit Michigan State and Clemson as well.

McCray averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds as a junior. Michigan State and Clemson have offered him, but it is unkown which school other than Marshall will let him play both sports. If Marshall can land both Bozeman and McCray it would be a real coup for the coaching staff.
