No more than three points separated the teams for the first six minutes before Hofstra surged on a 14-2 run. With a barrage of 3-pointers by Agudio and Loren Stokes, Hofstra (1-3) led by as many as 18 and held a 43-29 edge at the half.

Mark Dorris scored eight straight points to begin the second half and Marshall (1-3) ran off 13 unanswered points to get back in the game.
A jam by Markel Humphrey put Marshall briefly in the lead 48-47 with 14:20 to go. But another 3-pointer and two free throws by Agudio with 7:11 left finally stabilized Hofstra, putting the Pride back in the lead for good.
Marshall came within two on two free throws by Markel Humphrey with 32.3 seconds to go. But the Pride sank four throws to seal the victory.

Stokes finished with 21, the only other Hofstra player in double figures. Dorris finished with 15, all but two in the second half. Humphrey also had 15 and Travis Aikens 13 for Marshall.
