Marshall Gets Visit from JUCO DB

Marshall's 2013 football season is moving along and is nearly half way over. One of the biggest changes in the 2013 team compared to the 2012 team is the defense. The Herd has seen a complete 180 degree turn around from one of the country's worse defenses to one of the best. Much of that can be contributed to new defensive coordinator Chuck Heater.

The other differences are in the players. Two of those players are Junior College transfers Neville Hewitt and Arnold Blackmon. It comes as no surprise that Marshall is hitting the JUCO route again in hopes to replace some departing seniors on the depth chart. Marshall will lose two defensive backs off of the two deep in seniors Monterius Lovett and Derrick Thomas.

The Herd recently had a visit from a defensive back from Itawamba Community College. Darius White is a 6'1", 185 pound defensive back originally from Grenada, Mississippi. White currently starts at Itawamba.

White currently is third on the team with an average of 5.2 tackles per game. This comes off a freshman season which saw him accumulate 26 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 6 pass breakups.

White's teammate Kyle Harris also is drawing interest from the Herd and both players visited this past weekend for the game against UTSA.
